The new AGV Sport Modular motorcycle helmet, a full carbon flip up racing helmet, is expected to arrive in early 2018. We received a pre-production model and decided to make a review about this hardcore flip up sport helmet.

AGV Sport Modular specifications

This carbon flip up helmet, the AGV Sportmodular, offers the best of both worlds: the comfort of a flip up helmet and the performance of a full face helmet. The helmet is completely made from carbon, even the chin bar. The helmet shell has been built in the same way as that of the AGV Pista GP R. So this is a seriously strong helmet shell.

This motorcycle helmet is extremely light, especially for a flip up helmet. It weighs around 1295 grams (depending on the shell size). There are 3 different outer shell sizes for this hardcore modular helmet, and the inner shell has 5 different EPS densities in 4 different sizes.

Visor based on the Pista GP R

Another special feature is the large Optic 1 visor. The AGV Sport Modular offers a horizontal field of view of 190 degrees. That is the widest that the human eye can see, in other words this helmet offers perfect sight. The helmet also comes with a Pinlock Max Vision 120 anti-fog lens insert and an integrated sun visor.

Ventilation and aerodynamics

This flip up helmet has been developed using a wind-tunnel. This provides the helmet with exceptional aerodynamics and low noise. This also helps optimise the ventilation of the helmet. The helmet is said to have no dynamic weight at 130 km/h (80 mph).

The ventilation is based on full face helmet ventilation, it has been designed for high performance. The large chin and top air inlets work together with the rear outlet; which is adjustable and also works as a spoiler.

High performance but comfortable sports helmet

The interior of the helmet has a cool side and a warm side. You can turn the interior inside out, depending on the weather and the preferred helmet climate. It has been designed in such a way to help reduce noise. It has also been prepared for wearers of glasses.

The AGV Sport Modular has a titanium double-D retention system to make sure the helmet stays safe and secure on your head.
