Motorcycle boots equipped with Gore-Tex membrane
Motorcycle boots with a Gore-Tex membrane are 100% waterproof. This Gore-Tex membrane is an extremely thin layer of stretched PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and it contains more than 1,4 billion pores per square centimetre. These pores are the base of the unique characteristics of the Gore-Tex membrane. The microscopic pores of the membrane are around 20.000 times smaller than a drop of water, meaning it is completely waterproof. Apart from this the pores are 700 times larger than a water moisture molecule, which means perspiration moisture can escape the membrane. For this reason, Gore-Tex breathes like no other.
